ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Motorcycle Technician Training program at UTI helps give graduates the foundational knowledge they need to prepare for a career as a technician in the motorcycle industry.
Over the course of 48 weeks, you’ll have the opportunity to troubleshoot and diagnose engines, test performance and drivability and more.7 As a graduate, you earn a diploma and can choose to continue your training with additional manufacturer-specific electives.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Never picked up a wrench? No problem. You don't need any experience to enroll in UTI's motorcycle technician program. We'll start with the basics and slowly advance. A few of the course topics the program covers include:
- Engines, Transmissions, and Precision Measurement
- Chassis, Suspension, and Final Drive
- Electrical Systems
- Vehicle Maintenance
- Engine Troubleshooting and Noise Diagnosis
- Electrical Diagnostics

With more than 300 sunny days a year, it's the perfect place for motorcycle enthusiasts to enjoy long rides over scenic desert highways and back roads. UTI is just minutes from several arenas and stadiums that host professional sports, as well as motocross and Supercross events. UTI follows a blended learning model, which includes a mix of online instructor-led training with hands-on application in the lab.18 This type of training is modeled after what’s used in the industry today and can provide more flexibility for students. UTI’s core programs follow this style, except for Welding, Collision Repair & Refinish Technology, and CNC Machining. These programs follow a hands-on learning model.
While not separate classes, math and science aligned with the learning skills are incorporated into the course teachings, along with industry terminology that technicians need to succeed.
No, our curriculum does not require prior experience and is specifically designed to teach the skills necessary to pursue a career as a entry-level technician.
Graduates earn either a diploma or Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) degree, depending on the program and campus, with the possibility of additional credentials.
