Strengthening Women in Trades Grant Overview

Objective

To provide Strengthening Women in Trades Grants to women who are attending Universal Technical Institute, Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, Marine Mechanics Institute, or NASCAR Technical Institute campuses with demonstrated financial need.

Criteria for Awarding the Grant:

Eligibility will be based on financial need as determined by the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) or Student Aid Index (SAI) which is calculated by the US Dept. of Education as a result of a student completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • Applicant must be female, non-binary, or identify as a female.
  • Must be enrolled to attend an eligible campus and start date.
  • Applicant must have a completed FAFSA on file at the time of application review.
  • For students completing a 2023/2024 FAFSA, an EFC of 40000 or less is required.
  • For students completing a 2024/2025 FAFSA, an SAI of 40000 or less is required.
  • Applicant must submit a completed Attestation Form to the UTI Scholarship Department prior to starting classes at UTI, MMI, or NASCAR Technical Institute.

Eligibility Details:

Eligibility will be based on the approved FAFSA results sent to the school, called an Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) that is on file. An approved ISIR must be on file at the time the Attestation Form is submitted to the UTI Scholarship Department for review in order to be considered for a grant. If an approved ISIR is not on file at the time the Attestation Form is reviewed by the UTI Scholarship Department, the applicant will be deemed ineligible.

Program Details:

  • Strengthening Women in Trades Grant amount: 15% of Tuition
  • Approved Start Dates: All Universal Technical Institute campuses: June 3, 2024, June 24, 2024
  • NASCAR Technical Institute: June 3, 2024, June 24, 2024
  • Motorcycle Mechanics Institute – Avondale, AZ: June 10, 2024
  • Marine Mechanics Institute – Orlando, FL: July 1, 2024

Process and Rules:

Only one award will be given per student. Any grants awarded are not transferable to any other person. The Strengthening Women in Trades Grant will be applied as a credit against tuition and will not be issued to the student in the form of cash. In the event of withdrawal, suspension, or termination from school, the award will be subject to prorated loss for the portion of the program not attended.
