At UTI Avondale, we feature five core trade school programs: Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Welding Technology, Airframe & Powerplant Technician and HVACR Technician. These programs are taught by our dedicated and knowledgeable professionals who use state-of-the-art industry tools to help students learn in-demand skills. Depending on the program they complete, graduates can graduate with either an associate of occupational studies (AOS) degree or diploma.

We also provide seven unique manufacturer-specific programs in diesel or automotive technologies: BMW FastTrack, Cummins Engines,⁴⁶ Cummins Power Generation,⁴⁶ Daimler Truck Finish First, GM Technician Career Training, Volvo Tekniker Apprentice¹⁵ and Ford FACT. The goal of these programs is to sharpen students' specific skills related to each brand and offer them the chance to earn specialized qualifications or credentials after their core training is completed.

The Automotive Technology curriculum involves both online learning and hands-on experience that teaches skills in diagnosing, maintaining and repairing automotive technologies and lasts 51 weeks.^7,18 Graduates earn an AOS degree.

The Diesel Technology program at UTI Avondale lasts 45 weeks and offers students the resources to build the knowledge and practical skills necessary for effectively diagnosing and solving issues in diesel technology systems.⁵ Graduates earn an AOS degree.

UTI Avondale provides a 36-week training course that teaches the four key arc welding processes. This knowledge helps Welding Technology graduates gain the skills needed to pursue entry-level roles in the welding industry.

The 18-month Airframe & Powerplant Technician course at UTI Avondale helps equip students with aircraft servicing skills that help them pursue entry-level opportunities within the industry.⁷⁹ Graduates earn diplomas.

UTI Avondale's HVACR Technician program lasts 36 weeks and helps students build the understanding and knowledge needed to service and repair HVACR systems. Graduates can earn up to three forms of certification.

At UTI Avondale, students have the opportunity to enroll in the Ford FACT program, a 15-week course focused on technologies from the Ford Motor Company.⁸ This program deepens students' technical understanding of the brand. Graduates earn specific credentials to highlight that they’ve trained on Ford vehicles.

UTI Avondale offers a 12-week MSAT course called BMW FastTrack, which focuses on practical training on how to diagnose and repair BMW vehicles efficiently.⁸ Graduates earn BMW-specific credentials.

UTI Avondale offers a 12-week program focused on Cummins Engines.⁹ This course includes both theoretical instruction and practical lab training that uses diagnostic tools from Cummins. Graduates earn Cummins certifications, qualifying them for warranty work at all authorized Cummins distributors and dealerships.

The Cummins Power Generation program at UTI Avondale, lasting 12 weeks, helps equip students with the skills to handle Cummins Power Generation products, from setup to maintenance.⁹ Graduates earn nine Cummins Power Generation qualifications.

UTI Avondale offers a specialized 12-week program named Daimler Truck Finish First that educates students on the complex components of Freightliner and Western Star technologies.⁹ The curriculum covers their engines, chassis and advanced safety systems. Graduates earn Daimler Truck North America certifications.

The GM Technician Career Training program helps students hone their skills in the service of GM vehicles. The curriculum includes hands-on training with GM engines supported by lessons on troubleshooting, upkeep and repair. Graduates earn 11 course credentials and have the ability to earn Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of GM certification.

Volvo Tekniker Apprentice is a unique program that provides training of the necessary skills for the servicing and maintenance of Volvo engines. The program deals with various fundamental aspects, including basic electrical operations, key service routines and passive safety rules. Graduates earn four certifications that are acknowledged by Volvo dealerships across the country.

Our dedicated Career Advisors at UTI Avondale are there to support students in securing part-time jobs while they're in school.

Eligible students enrolled in our auto and diesel programs can take advantage of the Early Employment Program (EEP).³⁶ This program gives selected students the opportunity to work part-time with participating employers during their study period and possibly obtain full-time employment and tuition reimbursement at the end of the course.
