Our Houston, TX, diesel mechanic school takes just 11 months to complete and does not require any prior experience to attend.7

Industry professionals build students' knowledge from the ground up, helping them develop important diesel tech traits along the way. The Diesel & Industrial Technology program follows a blended learning model, meaning students spend part of their day following instructor-led online training and the rest of it practicing in hands-on labs.18 This model mimics training in the field while offering students flexibility.

Throughout students’ studies, they learn the fundamentals of diesel engine diagnosis, maintenance and repair, helping prepare them to pursue a diesel career in a variety of industries!

Earn an Associate Degree

Graduates of the Diesel & Industrial Technology program at UTI Houston earn an associate of occupational studies (AOS) degree, which may help them pursue a career. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), diesel employers increasingly prefer candidates with postsecondary training as they gain practical hands-on experience and understand the basics of diesel technology.

Prepare for ASE Certification

UTI diesel grads also have the knowledge they need to test for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification. Our diesel training program is accredited by the ASE Education Foundation, ensuring our courses meet standards developed by the automotive service industry.16 Plus, students can substitute their 45 weeks of training for one of the two years of work experience required to become ASE certified!

Upon completing the core diesel school program, students can pursue Manufacturer-Specific Advanced Training (MSAT). UTI Houston offers specialized training through the Cummins Engines program.46

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES NEAR GALVESTON, TX
