Focuses of the course include:

Understanding Diesel Fuel Systems

Explore the operation and components of diesel fuel systems, including mechanical parts, electrical systems and injectors. You’ll learn how these systems work together to power today’s diesel engines.

Diagnostics for Common Rail Systems

The goal is to gain knowledge in diagnosing and servicing low-pressure and high-pressure common rail systems. Students will come to understand how these systems optimize fuel delivery and engine performance.

Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injection (HEUI) Systems

Instructors help you understand the principles and operation of HEUI systems, which combine hydraulic and electronic controls for precise fuel injection. You’ll learn diagnostic and repair techniques to ensure peak engine performance.

High-Pressure Injection Systems

Students study advanced systems like high-pressure injection-time pressure (HPI-TP) systems and their role in efficient fuel delivery. They develop skills to identify and resolve issues in high-pressure systems.

Electronic Engine Management Systems

The goal of this fuel systems course is to learn about the role of electronic management in controlling fuel injection, timing and engine operation. Students will use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and repair electronic control systems.

Diesel Engine Retarders

Students will discover how engine retarders, like Jake Brakes, enhance braking performance and safety in heavy-duty vehicles. Perform diagnostics and service on these critical systems.

Alternate and Multi-Fuel Systems

This topic introduces alternate and multi-fuel systems, including their operation and potential benefits. Students are taught the basics of maintaining and diagnosing these systems to prepare for future industry trends.

Failure Mode Diagnostics

Students develop the ability to diagnose diesel engine failure modes, identifying the root causes of engine issues. They’ll practice performing thorough inspections and repairs to restore engine functionality.
