Committed to the Challenge: Mark Coleman’s Journey into Aviation

If you’re like Mark Coleman, a maintenance supervisor at Endeavor Air, and find excitement in no two days being the same, then an aviation technician career could be a path worth pursuing!

Mark has always enjoyed working with his hands and began his professional career journey as a ceramic tile man. But when the economy slowed down, his wife suggested he consider a career in aviation due to his passion for working with his hands. This led him to attend an aviation program, which provided him with a solid foundation to develop into a quality technician.

Mark's typical day on the job involves overseeing the operations of two functional areas: the gate and the hangar. With the help of his technical training and years of experience, he leads his team to be as efficient and solution-oriented as possible.

He explains that if you’re interested in a career in aviation, you need to be willing to accept new challenges every day and be part of a team to work through issues that may arise. This unpredictability is why he loves what he does.

“What do I love about the aviation industry? Every day is different. Every day there’s a new challenge.” He continues, “You never know what you’re going to walk into.”

Mark enjoys the variety in his day to day because it keeps him engaged and motivates him to continue learning.

Being actively involved in the operation and engaged in what's happening is what keeps him passionate about his work and up to date on the new tools and technology relevant to the industry.

He encourages those who are interested in aviation to commit themselves fully and see where it takes them. “Advice I would give is you really get out of it what you put into it,” he says.

Mark has wholeheartedly recommended aviation technician training to others who are curious to pursue a career in aviation. He notes that the courses provide students with a solid foundation to tackle everything that they will face in the industry. “It gives you a good place to start and a good foundation to develop into a quality technician,” he states.

He believes that if you really dedicate yourself to your studies, you can pick up a lot of knowledge that will help you succeed in your field.

Mark says that with the right education and mindset, you too can pursue an exciting career in aviation.
